Questions about our work
What do you do?
Our mission is to simply celebrate Fairfax and its communities. We do that through celebrations, community building, educational programming and placemaking. We also support many Fairfax County organizations and nonprofits and have numerous ongoing partnerships.
What type of organization is Celebrate Fairfax?

How can we support Celebrate Fairfax?
There are many ways to support our mission! When you attend an event or make a purchase from a Shop Local market vendor you are supporting the community which also supports our mission. You can also volunteer, be a food vendor, or perform at an event as a way to engage. Finally, you can make a donation or sponsor an event.
What is placemaking?
With the community at its center, placemaking is a name for the process of using community engagement and involvement to transform underutilized spaces and facilities into places where people can come together and create a sense of community, inclusion, and celebration.

During the pandemic we had the unique opportunity to take a look at how we were fulfilling our mission to Celebrate Fairfax and It’s Communities. After careful consideration, we decided as an organization to focus on building events, experiences, and engagements that serve all of Fairfax’s unique communities! We hope you’ll check out some of our new events and celebrate with us!
How do I become a food vendor?

Unless otherwise stated, all Celebrate Fairfax produced events are free and open to the public!

Where is The PARC located?
How to I get to The PARC?
The PARC is accessible via public transportation or car. If you are traveling via the metro the Spring Hill Metro station is also only about a 1/2 mile away.
Is there free parking available?
Yes! There are two parking lots that are free for all event parking!
Additional paid parking can be found at the garage right down the road (8401 Greensboro Drive #800, Mclean, VA 22102 – a 3 minute walk to The PARC).
Is The PARC ADA accessible?
Yes!
Yes! The PARC has accessible parking, restrooms, and an accessible entrance. If you would like to use the accessible entrance please use the entrance facing Broad Street.

What type of vendors can I find at a Shop Local Market?
At Celebrate Fairfax we like to tell people to think farmers’ market, but without the produce! Our vendors are made up of the unique crafters, artisans, makers, and bakers you might see at your local farmers’ market!

Is this event indoors or outdoors?
The market is year-round and inside.
Is there a cost to attend?
No, there is no admission fee to attend nor do you need to register in advance to attend. Additional items, such as food, beverages, and merchandise have a cost.
Is there a cost for booth space at the market?
No! Booth spaces are offered free of charge to the makers, artisans, and crafters selected to participate in the market, however space is first come first served, so apply early to secure your spot!
Volunteering frequently asked questions
I need to cancel or change my shift. Should I call or e-mail the Program Coordinator to make the adjustment to my schedule?
Yes! E-mail: volunteers@celebratefairfax.com and provide your name and volunteer shift.
The weather forecast said there is a chance of rain during an outdoor event I am scheduled to work. Should I still come?
YES, PLEASE! Unless you have received an update that the event has been postponed or cancelled, we will have a rain plan and will be moving forward rain or shine! Please dress accordingly and be prepared to work in the rain! We always hope for beautiful weather on event days but you just never know.
Do you provide a meal for volunteers that are working multiple shifts?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide full meals for our volunteers. We do give each volunteer a snack/beverage for each shift. The snack items consist of chips, granola bars, etc. If you think you will be hungry during your 3-4 hour shift, please eat before you arrive.
