Eileen Garnett Civic Space – Grand Opening

Celebrate Fairfax is proud to be part of another community building initiative, the Eileen Garnett Civic Space. In addition to serving on the planning committee, we are also an In-Kind Sponsor, providing equipment for the event.

Fairfax County will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and a variety of programming in celebration of the park’s debut. There will be family-friendly activities, information tables, and speeches to commemorate the opening of the new exceptional community space.

This space is an example of placemaking efforts in our community, where a property is repurposed using community input into an innovative public space.  The Community Revitalization Section of the Fairfax County Department of Planning looks to the placemaking power of such projects as a way to bring people together and contribute to the vibrancy of an area.
