Impact Showcase

Celebrate Sully Community Center

Sully District

The Sully Community Center’s grand opening was a milestone for the Sully community that brought residents together to celebrate their new hub. This 36,000-square-foot facility is now the home for the Sully Senior Center, School Age Child Care (SACC) programs, a healthcare suite, a partnership garden for programming use, and more. The multigenerational facility serves as a venue for cultural and recreational activities, fostering community interaction and engagement throughout the year.

Working alongside with Fairfax County agencies and nonprofit organizations, Celebrate Fairfax transformed an empty parking lot into a vibrant interactive free event that provided the opportunity for residents to connect with their neighbors, county agencies, community organizations, and local small businesses. The day was filled with cultural and musical performances, hands-on art activities, public safety exhibits, locally made products from artisans, and resources available to all residents. This collaborative effort emphasized the importance of community-building and the development of a network that enhances the overall well-being of residents and promotes healthy neighborhoods.

Thank You Participants

A special thank you to the following organizations and local businesses who worked in partnership with us to create a fun, free, informative, and interactive community event for all:

Impact Outcome Areas

Our work strives to support the 10 Community Outcome Areas included in the Fairfax County Strategic Plan. Celebrate Sully supports 5 of these outcome areas.

This free event brought the Sully community together to enjoy culture and recreation while interacting with neighbors and community groups. In turn this allowed Celebrate Fairfax to support the development of an enjoyable local community. Additionally, this creates relationships so community members can access the amenities that promote healthy neighborhoods and support residents facing vulnerability.

Attendees have the opportunity to meet, develop relationships, and get information and resources from county agencies and departments, nonprofit organizations, and local small businesses. For these exhibitors, this opportunity to interact is also provided to them at no cost. The impact areas encompassed by the exhibitors include healthy communities, sustainability, public safety, and emergency preparedness.
