Let’s Go Expo
Hunter Mill District
Let’s Go Expo Overview
The Let’s Go Expo was a dynamic community event, co-hosted by the Hunter Mill District Supervisor’s office and Celebrate Fairfax, aimed at promoting multimodal transportation options and fostering local engagement. This event transformed a vacant parking lot into a lively space for recreation and learning. Attendees explored various transit choices, including e-bikes, Capital Bikeshare, Fairfax Connector buses, and FASTRANs. The event featured exhibitors from community groups, county agencies, and nonprofits, who emphasized sustainability, safety, and accessibility in transportation.
The event triumphed in providing a diverse array of activities catering to all, ranging from face painting and balloon twisting to safety demonstrations and the Child ID program. A standout feature was the touch-a-truck experience, allowing attendees to interact with vehicles such as fire trucks, snowplows, electric school buses, and police cars. This interactive element added an exciting dimension to the event. The community enthusiastically came together to celebrate, learn, and connect over the abundance of transportation choices available in Fairfax County.

Impact Outcome Areas
Our work strives to support the 10 Community Outcome Areas included in the Fairfax County Strategic Plan (learn how here!). The Let’s Go Expo supports 7 of these outcome areas:
This free event brought the Hunter Mill area together to enjoy recreation and learning while interacting with neighbors and community groups. In turn, this allows Celebrate Fairfax to support the development of an enjoyable local community. Additionally, this creates relationships so community members can access the amenities that promote healthy neighborhoods and support residents facing vulnerability.
Attendees have the opportunity to meet, develop relationships, and get information and resources from county agencies and departments, nonprofit and local organizations. For these exhibitors, this opportunity to interact is also provided to them at no cost. The impact areas encompassed by the exhibitors include access to sustainability, public safety, alternative modes of transportation, and accessible transportation options.
