Celebrate Fairfax! Kids
Springfield District

Celebrate Fairfax! Kids Event Overview
The family-focused event Celebrate Fairfax! Kids at Burke Lake Park was hosted in collaboration by Celebrate Fairfax and the Springfield District Supervisor’s office. This partnership highlighted a shared commitment to engage the community in free, hands-on fun and promote educational resources for youth and families. The event, preceding the Springfield Nights concert series, transformed the field into a County Expo, featuring nine county agencies. Attendees enjoyed a variety of engaging activities provided by the agencies, including a story walk by the libraries, electronic school bus from the public schools, and crafts from Fairfax County Park Authority. Additionally, traditional favorites like balloon twisting, face painting, magicians, and giant lawn games added to the festive atmosphere. This event placed a strong emphasis on community engagement, fostering connections among residents and local agencies. It successfully demonstrated a dedication to the well-being of the community by offering valuable resources, information, and a vibrant platform for interaction.

Thank You Participants
A special thank you to the following organizations and local businesses who worked in partnership with us to create a fun, free, informative, and interactive community event for all:

Impact Outcome Areas
Our work strives to support the 10 Community Outcome Areas included in the Fairfax County Strategic Plan (learn how here!). Celebrate Fairfax! Kids supports 6 of these outcome areas:
This free event brings the Springfield community together at a favorite local venue, Burke Lake Park, to enjoy recreation while interacting with neighbors and community groups. In doing so, this is an opportunity for Celebrate Fairfax to support the development of an enjoyable local community and create relationships so that community members can access the amenities that promote healthy neighborhoods.
Attendees have the opportunity to meet, develop relationships, and get information and resources from local elected officials and their staff, county agencies and departments, nonprofit organizations, and local small businesses. The impact areas encompassed by the exhibitors include healthy communities, sustainability, literacy, transportation, public safety, and emergency preparedness. For these youth and family serving organizations, this opportunity was provided to them at no cost and generated awareness before and after the event about their work and ways to connect.
