Celebrate Fairfax Awards
The Celebrate Fairfax Awards recognize outstanding people who build our community through events and initiatives, volunteerism, activating local spaces, and advancing Celebrate Fairfax’s mission and Fairfax County’s commitment to creating a place of belonging for everyone.
Submissions are open August 1, 2025 - August 31, 2025

Criteria
- All Categories
- Time: January 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025
- Location: Based in Fairfax County and/or surrounding community (e.g. towns, cities, etc)
- Event
- The event must be produced by a nonprofit organization, community group, or Fairfax County government agency. Events organized by corporate entities are not eligible.
- The event can be new or an annual reoccurring event.
- The event may be free or have a nominal fee for participation.
- The event cannot be political, religious, or promote hate, racism, or discrimination of any kind.
- Provide a brief statement (no more than 600 words) summarizing the event, including location, audience, impact on the community, and describe how the event supports Celebrate Fairfax’s mission and aligns with Fairfax County’s strategic priorities.
- Include event goals/objectives and progress made on reaching them
- Provide up to 2 letters of support from community members, partners, or supporters familiar with the event and its impact.
- Provide at least 2 pieces of marketing materials (flier, postcard, etc.)
- Provide at least 3-5 photos of the event
- Partnership
- Must be a registered nonprofit, Fairfax County Board, Authority, or Commission (BAC), county agency, or any other entity that has actively collaborated with Celebrate Fairfax. Corporate and for-profit partners are eligible if they have engaged in a meaningful partnership beyond only a transactional relationship.
- The partnership should demonstrate active support through contributions such as volunteer involvement, marketing collaboration, staffing assistance, joint programming, or other forms of operational or strategic support. Partnerships should reflect mutual benefit and shared goals.
- Provide a brief statement (no more than 500 words) describing the partnership, alignment to Celebrate Fairfax’s mission, and commitment to community engagement and service within Fairfax County.
- Include key outcomes of the partnership and success achieved through the collaboration.
- Provide up to two letters of support from community members, partners, or stakeholders familiar with the partnership and its contributions to the community.
- Ambassador
- The nominee must be an individual volunteer whose contributions are separate from their regular, paid job responsibilities.
- No age minimum
- Provide a brief statement (no more than 500 words) describing the volunteer work, impact the work made in the community, how the volunteer’s contributions support Celebrate Fairfax’s mission and align with Fairfax County’s strategic priorities.
- Include any websites, social media, photos etc. to show where and when the volunteer work was completed.
- Provide up to two letters of support from community members, organizational partners, or stakeholders familiar with the volunteer work and impact.
