DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Fairfax presents special pre-concert programming starting at 5:00PM. Bring a picnic\, blanket and/or lawn chairs for free family fun! We’re excited to bring the community together to celebrate the joy of youth. Come for the fun then stay for the concert at 7:00PM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe festivities start with:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacepainting \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBalloon twisting \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGiant lawn games \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe fun continues with our friends from:\n\n\n\n\n\nFairfax County Government Agencies: \n\n\n\nDepartment of Emergency Management & Security hosts a table to talk to kids about what types of disasters or emergencies happen in our area and how to prepare for them\, and showcase their new kids book\, One Cat-Five and Super-Stormy Night. \n\n\n\nNeighborhood & Community Services \n\n\n\nPublic Safety Communications hosts\, fun\, interactive activities including coloring\, matching mazes\, and more to learn about 911 essentials. Then test your knowledge about 911 vs the nonemergency number through special games. \n\n\n\n\n\nFairfax County Public Library hosts a story walk and bookmark coloring. \n\n\n\nFairfax County Public Schools is bringing their electric buses- learn about FCPS’s commitment to environmental sustainability while you climb aboard and explore. Check out this coloring book to learn more about electric buses! \n\n\n\nFairfax County Police Department\, West Springfield District\, is bringing cruisers to climb aboard\,  stickers\, pens and other giveaways\, and police gear to check out and get photos! \n\n\n\nFairfax County Park Authority hosts table to make origami frogs and friendship bracelets\, while you learn how to map green actions with Watch the Green Grow.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpringfield Nights is presented by Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity and the Fairfax County Park Authority.  \n\n\n\nStay for the free concert starting at 7:00pm\, featuring SoHo Down (Country/Rock). \n\n\n\nFor weather related updates\, call 703.324.7469 (SHOW)\, starting at 4:00PM

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Summer on The Patio at The PARC! You are invited to come out and relax\, work or hang out with friends. The welcoming space is WiFi enabled and features cozy seating. Bring a picnic or snacks and soak up the sun. \n\n\n\nAnd- on Thursdays\, The Patio will also host the Potomac Farm Market from 12pm-7pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Summer Patio is part of ongoing placemaking efforts\, one of three focus areas of the nonprofit organization Celebrate Fairfax. Placemaking means creating places and focusing on transforming public spaces to strengthen the connections between people and these places (Arch Daily). We’re delighted to transform this empty space into a vibrant place as part of making The PARC a community hub.
