Due to a high chance of severe thunderstorms forecasted for this evening\, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight’s concert. We are working on rescheduling the event and hope to have a new date identified in the coming days.  \n\n\n\nStay tuned for details. \n\n\n\nThe Tysons Community Alliance (TCA) presents Friday After 5! From June through August\, the TCA is producing a jazz music series on the third Friday of the month from 5-8 PM. We are happy to be partnering with them on the first concert to kick off the series\, which will be held at The PARC at Tysons! This event will feature local jazz vocalist Akua Allrich. Bring a chair\, pack a picnic\, or grab dinner and dessert from one of the food trucks on site. \n\n\n\nAbout the artist: \n\n\n\nJazz vocalist and DC-native Akua Allrich has proven herself to be a musician of extraordinary talent and crowd-moving passion. With finesse and charisma\, this vocalist\, composer and teacher\, has successfully etched out a place for her unique musical expression\, electrifying audiences in and around the nation’s capital with sold-out performances. \n\n\n\nAllrich’s style is fluid and ever evolving. Her musical roots run deeply into blues\, soul and rhythm and blues\, with a clear grounding in jazz and pan-African music. She sings in many languages including Portuguese\, French\, Spanish\, English\, Xhosa\, and Twi. Given her ability to capture the essence of a broad range of musical genres\, Allrich is often likened to legendary artists such as Oscar Brown\, Jr.\, Miriam Makeba and Nina Simone.

Bring a picnic or snacks and soak up the sun. \n\n\n\nAnd- on Thursdays\, The Patio will also host the Potomac Farm Market from 12pm-7pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Summer Patio is part of ongoing placemaking efforts\, one of three focus areas of the nonprofit organization Celebrate Fairfax. Placemaking means creating places and focusing on transforming public spaces to strengthen the connections between people and these places (Arch Daily). We’re delighted to transform this empty space into a vibrant place as part of making The PARC a community hub.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at The PARC on Saturday\, April 6th\, from 10am-1pm\, for the Tysons Community Alliance Placemaking Fest! This family-friendly event will include food trucks\, interactive art\, a mobility maze\, live music\, a photo booth\, and so much more. Across Tysons\, we are working together with our community partners to create spaces that make our community an attractive place to live\, work\, play\, and gather. We hope you will stop by for a fun-filled event and to help us create a sense of place in Tysons. \n\n\n\nFood Vendors Include: \n\n\n\n\nColonial Kettle Corn\n\n\n\nEl Chef Latino\n\n\n\nFine Dining to Go\n\n\n\nTysons Creamery\n\n\n\n\nMobility Maze  \n\n\n\nThe Mobility Maze is a miniature urban street network built at a scale for children that mimics actual streets with lanes\, stop signs\, sidewalks\, and bridges. We will have scooters and some helmets for kids to use while they experience the Mobility Maze. The day will be full of educational and hands-on activities. Please see the schedule below make sure to sign-up by clicking HERE. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAlso at The PARC from 10 AM until 1 PM\, stop by to drop off your compost or learn how to get started composting at home\, thanks to our friends at Future Acres!  \n\n\n\nTo know what you can compost\, click below! \n\n\n\n\nFairfax County Composting Guide\n\n\n\n\nAll activities will begin at The PARC at Tysons. Parking will be available on-site.  \n\n\n\nSCHEDULE \n\n\n\n9:30 AM – 10:30 AM – Fairfax County Park Authority Nature Walk \n\n\n\nJoin Fairfax County Park Authority experts and the team at Providence Board of Supervisors office as they take you on a nature and litter pick-up walk. You will learn interesting facts while helping clean-up the trails!Note: this activity involves walking for long distances.  \n\n\n\n10:30 AM – 12:30 PM – Tysons Forest Clean-Up \n\n\n\nJoin Tysons Community Alliance and the team at the Hunter Mill Board of Supervisors office with cleaning-up Tysons Forest! Note: this activity involves walking for long distances\, picking up litter\, and moving objects. Supplies for litter pick-up will be provided. \n\n\n\n1:30 PM – 3:30 PM – PARC Beautification \n\n\n\nCelebrate your community by beautifying a community hub\, The PARC at Tysons! Get hands-on by picking up litter\, removing invasive plants\, and more. Note: this activity involves walking for long distances\, picking up litter\, and removing plants. Supplies for litter pick-up and plant removal will be provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Earth Day Activities at The PARC  \n\n\n\n9:00 AM- 11:00 AM -Coffee\, Coffee\, Coffee! Grab a coffee and treat from the Frothy Mug coffee van before you start celebrating! \n\n\n\n10:00 AM- 1:00 PM Composting Resources and CollectionBring your composting with you or learn how to start yourself. Our friends at Future Acres will be collecting compost and teaching attendees good composting habits. \n\n\n\n11:30 AM- 1:30 PM – Food Truck Lunch!Take a break at The PARC in Bloom lounge and enjoy a meal from a local food vendor.
