The mission of Celebrate Fairfax is to build a vibrant community. As a nonprofit organization since 1981, we work in partnership with Fairfax County elected officials, community agencies, and other nonprofits to connect you to community life. In addition to hosting and working in partnership to create events, we also aim to connect community members to the many other events happening across Fairfax County. From parks to arts, kids to seniors, volunteering to recreational activities, there’s something for everyone in our community.

Fairfax County Government and Agencies
Fairfax County, officially the County of Fairfax is home to over 1.5 million people spanning over 400 square miles.
This comprehensive calendar includes upcoming community events, public hearings, public meetings and town halls on this extensive calendar.
The library presents and hosts events on a range of topics of interest to the Fairfax County community. Events include author talks, book clubs for all ages, English conversation groups, technology workshops, writers’ groups, preschool story times, STEM-related children’s activities and much more.
Many events occur outside library branches at venues such as schools, parks, theater spaces and senior centers.
Library events are always free to the public; some require registration in advance.
The Park Authority‘s mission is to enrich quality of life for all members of the community through an enduring park system that provides a healthy environment, preserves natural and cultural heritage, offers inspiring recreational experiences, and promotes healthy lifestyles.
Events include ongoing events and classes as well as one time special seasonal and community events.
Neighborhood and Community Services offers programs, activities and classes for individuals of all ages, abilities and interests.

The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is the public agency that plans, organizes and provides services for adults and youth in our community who have mental illness, substance use disorders and/or developmental disabilities;
The CSB is one of 40 Community Services Boards in the Commonwealth of Virginia. State law requires every jurisdiction to have a CSB. They operate as part of Fairfax County government’s human services system.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is a catalyst that transforms our community’s most valuable potential – our children – and shapes a thriving future. FCPS is one of the largest school divisions in the U.S. with 198 schools and centers.
The FCPS calendar includes featured FCPS events, job fairs and recruitment events, employee calendar and the school year calendar.

Community Organizations
Visit Fairfax is the official destination marketing organization for Fairfax County, Virginia. Their mission is to enhance economic and social growth in Fairfax County and Northern Virginia by marketing, promoting, developing and coordinating tourism, conventions, sports and hospitality opportunities in the area.
This calendar includes submissions from local agencies, nonprofit organizations, arts groups, and local businesses.
ArtsFairfax is the 501(c)(3) designated local arts agency for Fairfax County. They envision a thriving arts and culture community accessible to all of Fairfax County.
Their calendar highlights arts & culture activities from both individual artists and arts organizations across all disciplines, including film, literature, visual, and performing arts throughout Fairfax and the surrounding region.

Towns and Cities in Fairfax County
The City of Fairfax, known as Fairfax City, has a population just under 25,000 people. Located in the heart of Northern Virginia, the independent city is just six-square miles.
The city features special events, many annual favorites such as the Chocolate Lovers Festival.
The City of Falls Church, population just under 14,000 is an independent municipality also known as The Little City. At just 2.2 square miles, this independent municipality is one of the two geographically smallest cities in Virginia.
The City operates under the Council-Manager form of government and is separate from the surrounding Arlington and Fairfax Counties with its own school system. Fairfax County also has some Falls Church mailing addresses, and the City contracts for select services with the counties.
The City of Falls Church hosts numerous free annual and special events throughout the year.
The Town of Vienna is comprised of around 5,500 households in a 4.4 square mile area towards the western part of Fairfax County. The town is home to many historic properties amidst a thriving commercial corridor.
The Town of Vienna provides an array of community events to suit every interest. From festivals and concerts to children’s programming and family fun nights, they aim to offer something for everyone.
Herndon is a town with just under 25,000 that dates back before the Civil War. Established in 1879, the Town of Herndon is the 3rd largest town in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Each year, thousands of people enjoy a wide variety of free concerts and special events on Herndon’s Town Green as well as arts events and events in the community center or parks.
