Alexandria, VA – This March, the Inaugural ConnerStrong Foundation “You’re Not Alone” 5K Fun Run will take place in Kingstowne. This event is tailored as a community outreach event, bringing together local community-based resources focused on wellness, mental health, and suicide prevention. Non-perishable food donations will also be accepted at the event, with all proceeds going to two local community organizations, United Community and Koinonia. The fun run is organized in partnership with Franconia District Supervisor, Rodney L. Lusk, ConnerStrong, Celebrate Fairfax, and Federal Realty.
Quote from Supervisor Rodney Lusk (Franconia), who has led several community initiatives to address food insecurity and the rising cost of groceries, stated:
“I am excited to partner with the ConnerStrong Foundation on the fun run, which not only honors the memory of Conner but also raises awareness of the resources available in our community around mental health and food insecurity” said Supervisor Lusk. “The fun run is yet another way my office is addressing the stigma around asking for help and receiving critical services,” stated Supervisor Lusk. “Thank you to Tom and Mindi Worosz of ConnerStrong, Celebrate Fairfax and Federal Reality, and all our other partners for making this fun run and its important mission possible,” said Supervisor Lusk.

“We are excited to partner with Supervisor Lusk and Celebrate Fairfax and bring this event to the community,” said Tom Worosz. “There are so many resources within our community that focus on wellness, mental health, and suicide prevention; much of which is unknown to the residents,” stated Tom Worosz. “We hope that this event will provide awareness of the help and resources that are so very needed and help remove the stigma about mental health,” said Tom Worosz. “This is just another example of what we, as a community, can do when we come
together and shine a light on the needs and well-being of everyone,” stated Tom Worosz. “I know Conner is looking down on us and cheering on our good works in his memory,” said Tom Worosz.
